Privacy & Visibility screen
What it is
Section titled “What it is”The Privacy & Visibility screen is where admins configure what members can see about each other within a syndicate. Three settings live here: whether member names appear on other people’s calendar bookings, which roles can see the financial detail of other members’ usage logs, and whether usage photos are visible across the whole syndicate or only to the uploader plus admins.
All three settings apply syndicate-wide. There is no per-member override.
Who can use it
Section titled “Who can use it”- Admin: can change every setting on this screen.
- Members: do not see the screen. They experience the effects on the calendar, in the usage log list, and in the photo viewer.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”In the app:
- Open the syndicate.
- Open the Admin tab, then tap Privacy & visibility in the Syndicate section.
Route: /syndicates/:syndicateId/settings/privacy (still resolves as a deep link).
Fields / options
Section titled “Fields / options”| Field | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Show member names | On | Toggle governing two surfaces. When off, other members’ bookings on the calendar show as “Busy” and the member list is admins only. Your own bookings always show your name. See Show member names. |
| Usage log visibility | All Members | Dropdown. Controls who can see the financial detail (charge, shortfall, rate) on other members’ usage logs. Values: All Members, Admins Only. The log itself, the hours, and the landings stay visible to everyone; only the money is hidden from members who are not permitted to see it. |
| Share usage photos with all members | Off | Toggle. When on, every member can view the Hobbs / tacho photo on any usage log. When off, only the uploader and admins can view photos on logs they did not author. Saves immediately on change; no Save button required. See Usage photo privacy. |
Behaviour rules
Section titled “Behaviour rules”- Show member names controls who can see who booked, and who can open the member list. When the toggle is off, members who are not permitted to see who booked cannot see the booker’s identity; the booking still appears on the calendar as “Busy” so the slot is visible for scheduling. The same toggle closes the member list to everybody but admins. Your own bookings always show your name; admins always see who booked and always keep the member list, because a member’s role, shares, billing scheme and removal are reached through it. See Show member names.
- Usage log visibility controls who can see the money. When the setting restricts the financial detail, members who are not permitted cannot see the charge and rate figures on another member’s usage log. The log itself, the hours, and the landings stay visible to everyone, so scheduling and maintenance are unaffected. A member viewing their own log always sees the full detail, and admins always see everything.
- A setting change takes effect on each member’s next sync. When an admin changes a setting, members’ devices pick up the change on their next sync. Members who are permitted to see the detail (its owner, admins, or everyone when the setting is open) continue to see it; members who are not permitted no longer see it in the app.
- Share usage photos saves immediately. The other two fields require tapping the Save button. Until the syndicate has loaded, the screen shows a loading state and nothing on it can be tapped, so there is no window in which a toggle is live but unsaveable.
- Personal ICS feed is not affected by any of these toggles. Your feed contains your own bookings plus your syndicates’ shared events (AGMs, fly-ins). There is no control anywhere in the app for excluding those events; they are always included. See ICS calendar feed.
