Home airfield
The home airfield is the airfield an asset is based at. For aircraft it determines where event fees apply: landing and touch-and-go fees are charged only when a flight’s arrival matches the home airfield. Fly away and land elsewhere, and those fees are waived for that log; the time-based usage charge is unaffected.
How it is resolved
Section titled “How it is resolved”When a log is priced, Syndik8 resolves the home airfield in this order:
- A per-asset home airfield, set on the add/edit asset screen. This field only appears in a multi-asset syndicate, where each asset can have its own base.
- The syndicate default home airfield, set on the Asset rates screen, or on the setup wizard’s aircraft step when the syndicate is first created. The wizard presents it as a fact about the aircraft, but stores it as the syndicate-wide value, so both routes write the same setting. In a single-asset syndicate this is the only home airfield that applies; in a multi-asset syndicate it is the fallback for any asset without its own.
If neither is set, there is no home airfield and no event fees are charged for any log. (The Asset rates screen disables the home-airfield fee fields until a home airfield is set, so you cannot configure a fee that would never apply.)
The setup wizard offers a search over the bundled airfield list, by ICAO code or by name, and accepts free text for a private strip that has no ICAO code. It is optional there, and becomes required only if the syndicate says it charges landing fees, since that is the point at which a flight’s arrival has something to be compared against.
The arrival is compared to the resolved home airfield ignoring case and surrounding spaces (so egmc, EGMC and EGMC all match). Nothing fills the departure and arrival in for you. They are statements of fact by the pilot, they end up on the aircraft’s technical record, and the home airfield is never substituted for a blank one — so a local flight has to state its home airfield in both fields like any other. A log saved with no arrival records no arrival, and no event fee is charged, because there is nothing to compare against the home airfield.
