Pilot medical
A pilot medical is the aeromedical certificate issued to a pilot by a UK CAA / EASA-approved aeromedical examiner. It records that the pilot is medically fit to fly to a particular standard (Class 1, Class 2, LAPL, PMD) and carries an expiry date.
In Syndik8, the medical is special-category health data under UK GDPR Article 9. Uploading one is consent-gated: the server requires a current explicit consent record before accepting the file, and the app presents a consent screen before upload. It lives on the pilot’s My documents screen, not in any syndicate library, and is visible only to the pilot. Admins of the pilot’s syndicate(s) get a redacted view: a red attention icon appears on the pilot’s row in the Members list when the medical is missing or already expired, and the expiry date itself is shown as ordinary text on the pilot’s member detail screen. Admins never see the certificate file, the medical class, or any clinical detail.
