Document cache
The document cache is Syndik8’s on-device store of a syndicate’s documents, so members can open them with no signal: at a strip with no bars, in a hangar with thick walls, on a foreign trip with data roaming switched off. It is the practical answer to “show the ramp inspector the insurance”.
The cache is on iOS and Android only; the web has no cache. Syndicate-level documents and the documents of single-asset syndicates are cached automatically; per-asset opt-in switches govern caching in multi-asset syndicates. Your own pilot documents (an uploaded medical certificate or licence) also cache automatically, on your own devices only; they are never copied to any other member’s device.
In the app: the per-asset switch on each section header of the document library (unlabelled on screen, announced as “Cache on this device” to a pointer hover or a screen reader), and Available offline badges on the sections that cache automatically. Whether a particular file has actually arrived is shown by the mark on its row, just before the chevron: a tick for “Saved on this device”, an outline cloud for “Not saved on this device”. The section controls describe the rule; the row mark describes the file, and the two can honestly disagree while a download is still running. See Offline document cache and the underlying reasoning in How offline document caching works.
