Demo syndicate
A demo syndicate is a pre-populated syndicate Syndik8 can load on your account so you can evaluate the app without having to set anything up. The demo has exactly three members — you, as its admin (the tutorial screenshots call this persona Owen Owner), plus two synthetic members, Amy Admin and Mike Member — and one aircraft, a Cessna 172 with registration G-QSYN. That mark is fictional by construction: no registration issued anywhere contains the letter Q, so the demo aircraft can never be confused with a real one.
Inside you get about 25 bookings spread across the last four weeks and the next eight, a usage log against each past flight, two open squawks that do not ground the aircraft, and two maintenance checks, neither of them due. The bookings are drawn at random and any that would overlap one already on the calendar is dropped, so the exact number differs from demo to demo — 25 is the shape, not a promise. The aircraft is priced at £180 an hour flown, £12 a landing and £6 a touch-and-go, and the default billing scheme carries dues of £50 a month, unscheduled so that nothing posts on its own. Each past flight has been charged at those rates, and each member has one recorded payment covering the older two thirds of their own flying, with their recent flights left owing — so Balances and the billing screens open on a real figure rather than on zero. Those payments are recorded the way an admin records one made by bank transfer: no card, no Direct Debit and no payment account sits behind any of them, and nothing in a demo is ever charged to anything. No expenses are seeded.
There is also a single two-day maintenance block, sitting a fortnight in the past and already completed. It is behind you on purpose: it puts the maintenance colour on the calendar without suspending any of the demo’s bookings. The demo never starts you off with downtime ahead.
You load the demo from the onboarding welcome screen’s Skip onboarding: launch demo button, and the app puts you on Home with the new syndicate listed there, ready to tap into. It counts as one syndicate on your account and respects the free-tier limits (1 asset, 3 members). A demo cannot invite real members, cannot set up payments, and cannot subscribe or take payments; Syndik8 refuses each of those and points you at creating a syndicate of your own. Setting up payments is refused the moment you open it, because it opens a real account with our payments partner against your own identity documents and bank. It is cleaned up when you stop using it: an email after a week of silence, and removal a week after that, with signing in at any point resetting the clock. Closing a demo frees you to start another straight away.
Amy is assigned the admin role so you can see approval and finalisation flows from both sides; Mike is a plain member. Both have @syndik8.app addresses with all notification emails disabled, so nothing they do in the demo generates outbound messages.
Most screenshots in this documentation are taken against the demo syndicate, so the names, aircraft, and numbers match what you see when you load it. The exceptions are the setup tutorials, which have to show a syndicate being built from nothing and so use an aircraft of their own.
