Airworthiness
Airworthiness is the aviation term for whether an aircraft is safe and legal to operate. Syndik8 borrows the word for its own indicator, which is narrower: whether anything the syndicate has recorded is holding the asset out of use right now.
In Syndik8, the indicator is a continuously-computed, per-asset status. It reads Yes when the asset has no open grounding squawks, no overdue maintenance items, and no deferred grounding squawks past their deferral date. When any of those fails, the asset is grounded in the app and new bookings are blocked.
The indicator is computed only from records members have entered. It knows nothing the syndicate has not written up, such as an airworthiness directive, a maintenance-programme task or an unreported defect, so it is indicative and is not a determination of airworthiness. The legal responsibilities stay where the regulations put them: continuing airworthiness with the aircraft’s owner or operator, the pre-flight check and the decision to fly with the Pilot in Command. See Pilot-in-command responsibility.
Syndik8 uses the aviation term because aircraft are the assets it manages, and its Terms of Service say what the indicator is and is not.
