Upgrade from free to paid
Lift your syndicate’s member and asset limits by taking out a paid subscription.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You must be an admin of the syndicate. Any admin can complete the checkout.
- Paid pricing is £20 a month for the first aircraft and £12 for each one after it, with 15 members included and £1 a month for each member beyond that. Figures are ex-VAT; 20% is added at checkout. Billing is monthly. Worked examples are on pricing; founding pricing takes 50% off for the first 50 paid subscriptions.
- You do not pick a quantity at checkout. Syndik8 counts the syndicate’s aircraft and members and prices from that. A syndicate coming off the free plan is at most one aircraft and three members, so its first bill is £20 a month ex-VAT (£24 including VAT); a larger syndicate resubscribing is priced on the size it actually is.
- The upgrade path depends on the platform you are on. Web goes directly to checkout. iOS and Android hand off to email, in line with store rules.
Upgrade on web
Section titled “Upgrade on web”- Open the syndicate and go to the Admin tab, then tap Subscription.
- Tap Upgrade. Stripe takes over in a new browser tab to collect your payment details and start the subscription. Follow the instructions there.
- Return to the app. On success, your syndicate moves to the paid plan immediately and the free-tier limits lift.
That checkout page is Stripe’s, not ours, so we do not walk you through it here. Stripe describes it in its Checkout documentation.
You can also reach the checkout by trying an action that hits a free-tier limit: adding a second aircraft, or inviting a fourth admin or member. (Inviting a fourth viewer does not, because a viewer takes up no seat.) A dialog titled Upgrade Your Plan appears with Cancel and Upgrade Now. Upgrade Now hands over to the same Stripe checkout.
Upgrade on iOS or Android
Section titled “Upgrade on iOS or Android”On mobile you cannot upgrade inside the app, because Apple and Google store rules forbid routing payment outside their stores for this kind of subscription. The app hands you off to email instead.
- When you try an action that would break a free-tier limit, a brief notice appears at the bottom of the screen explaining the limit.
- In the background, the app sends an email to the address on your account containing an upgrade link to the web version.
- Open the email and follow the link on a desktop or laptop browser. You land on the same web upgrade described above.
- Complete the checkout with Stripe. Your syndicate moves to the paid plan as soon as the payment succeeds; the change syncs to the app on your phone automatically.
You do not need to ask for the email: it is sent automatically when you hit a limit, subject to a server-side cooldown so repeated taps do not spam you.
If it goes wrong
Section titled “If it goes wrong”- The dialog is hidden on web. You are probably not an admin of the syndicate. Only admins can upgrade.
- No email arrived on mobile. Check the account email set on your profile (the Profile tab). The email goes to that address; you cannot redirect it. The server-side cooldown may also skip a bump if one was sent recently.
