Air Navigation Order
The Air Navigation Order (ANO) is the UK’s primary aviation regulation — a statutory instrument that lays out, among much else, the pre-flight responsibilities of the Pilot in Command, the documents that must be carried in an aircraft, and the conduct expected of pilots. It is the document the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) cites when assigning responsibility for an incident or breach.
The ANO matters to Syndik8 because it puts the responsibility for currency, airworthiness, and pre-flight checks squarely on the pilot — not on the syndicate, not on the maintenance organisation, and not on a piece of management software. Syndik8 is designed around that: it surfaces information helpfully and reminds at sensible windows, but it does not interpose itself between the pilot and the aircraft.
In the app: not referenced by name in any user-facing screen, but the underlying principle shapes the “reminders, not gates” design pattern across the product. See Pilot-in-command responsibility.
