Maintenance templates
What it is
Section titled “What it is”A maintenance template is a pre-defined maintenance task you can apply to an asset. The template defines the name, description, interval type, and interval value; applying it creates a tracked maintenance item on the asset.
Syndik8 ships with a fixed catalogue of aircraft templates: Annual Inspection, ARC, 50-Hour Check, 100-Hour Check, Oil Change, and Transponder Check. When adding a maintenance item, you pick from this catalogue; the app does not support authoring custom templates.
Who can use it
Section titled “Who can use it”Admins apply templates to create maintenance items. All members see the items that result.

- Picked templates appear in a bottom sheet. Tapping a template opens the setup sheet to enter the “last completed” value or date.

The defaults follow the usual convention: inspections track time in service, while oil ages with engine running time, including the taxiing and holding that never becomes flying hours. They are suggestions, not rules — a maintenance schedule that disagrees is common, so every one of them is changeable. If your syndicate does not record the default measure, the nearest one you do record is chosen instead.
The oil change is the one template with two limits, because oil oxidises and takes up moisture while an aircraft sits, so it ages whether or not the engine turns. Thirty hours a year reaches fifty hours in twenty months, and an hours-only oil change would never say so. Because that calendar half counts from the day the work was last done, setting the oil change up asks you when that was. The inspections carry no calendar companion on purpose: which one a 50- or 100-hour check should have is a judgement about a particular aircraft’s approved schedule, and a figure invented here would either ground an airworthy aircraft or fail to ground one that is not.
The template picker groups them. Three (Annual Inspection, ARC, and 50-Hour Check) sit under Essential checks and are offered first; the other three sit under Additional checks below them. Maintenance is not part of the first-run setup wizard: you set it up from the maintenance list whenever you are ready, and the dashboard’s Getting Started checklist signposts it.
Behaviour rules
Section titled “Behaviour rules”- Applying a template creates a standalone item. The resulting item does not retain a reference to the template, so a later change to the template does not touch items already created from it. Signing the item’s completions off works exactly as it does for a hand-built item, including the offer to schedule the next occurrence — see Maintenance items: Behaviour rules.
- Only the oil change brings a secondary calendar limit with it. The setup sheet does not offer one on the others, and does not let you change the oil change’s; add or edit a calendar limit afterwards on the item’s own screen. See Maintenance items: Secondary calendar limit.
- A template’s interval cannot be overridden per asset. If you need a different interval for one asset, create a custom one-off item instead. The measure it counts against can be changed, both when setting it up and afterwards on the item.
- The catalogue is the same everywhere because it ships with the app, not because it is seeded per syndicate. The templates the picker offers are built into the app itself, so every syndicate sees an identical list and nothing is stored against your syndicate for them. There is no way to add a template of your own to the picker; to track something the catalogue does not cover, create the maintenance item directly instead.
