Grace period

The grace period is the window after a paid subscription’s recurring payment fails, while the payment is still being retried. Nothing is withheld while it runs: bookings, usage logs, expenses, members and money all work exactly as normal. A card expiring is usually an oversight rather than a decision, so the window exists to let that resolve itself without disrupting the group.

The window is the payment provider’s, not Syndik8’s. The provider retries the card for around two weeks on a schedule it does not publish, so there is no deadline in the app and no countdown: the admin warning reads the same on the first day as on the last.

If the payment goes through at any point, the warning clears and billing carries on as normal. Settling late does not shrink the amount owed or move the next billing date, so the window is time to pay rather than free time.

If the payment is never made, the retries stop and the syndicate moves to the free plan. It does not enter a state of its own. What happens next depends only on its size:

  • Within the free plan (1 aircraft, up to 3 members): it carries on as an ordinary free syndicate, with nothing restricted.
  • Larger than the free plan: it becomes read-only as an over-the-plan syndicate, with the usual ways out: resubscribe, or trim back within the limits.

There is no limit on how many times a syndicate can be in this state. A later failure gets the same window as the first.

Read access is never revoked at any stage. Members can always see their bookings, balances, and history.
