Set up Direct Debit
Set up Direct Debit
Section titled “Set up Direct Debit”Authorise a Direct Debit mandate so your syndicate can collect what you owe without you paying each charge by hand.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You set up a Direct Debit from the My Balance screen of the syndicate you belong to. The “Set up Direct Debit” card appears there once your syndicate has switched Direct Debit on; if you do not see the card, your syndicate has not enabled it yet.
You need a UK bank account that accepts Bacs Direct Debit. Have the account details to hand, as the payment provider asks for them on its own hosted page.
Set up your mandate
Section titled “Set up your mandate”- Open the syndicate and go to the My Balance screen.
- Find the “Set up Direct Debit” card and tap Set it up. If an admin has sent you a prompt instead, open the notification or email and follow its link to the same setup screen.
- Confirm to continue to the payment provider’s hosted page.
- Enter your name, email, and bank account details on the hosted page, then authorise the Direct Debit.
- Return to the app. The setup card now shows that your mandate is being verified.
- Open the email the payment provider sends you and follow its link to sign the Direct Debit consent.
- Once you have signed, your mandate becomes active and the setup card no longer appears on your My Balance screen.
What a Direct Debit looks like on your statement
Section titled “What a Direct Debit looks like on your statement”A collection from your syndicate shows as Stripe on your bank statement, not the syndicate’s name. This is the payment provider Syndik8 uses, so the entry is expected.
Resend the consent email
Section titled “Resend the consent email”If the consent email does not arrive, or you miss it, you have two ways to get a fresh one.
- Return to the “Set up Direct Debit” card on your My Balance screen and start the setup again. This sends you a new consent link from the payment provider.
- Alternatively, ask an admin to send you a prompt to set up Direct Debit. This sends you a notification with a link to start setup again.
